Phil's All Embracing Bhutan Slide Show
		 Devotional Activities At Wat Pho

Wat Pho, which is located next to the Grand Palace, is the largest temple complex in Thailand.
It was built by King Rama I nearly 200 years ago and houses the gigantic gold-plated Reclining Buddha
     statue.

Here are devotees lighting incense and candles in front of the Emerald Buddha Temple, in
the background. In my experience, this temple is one of very potent spiritual energy and
many people come to the temple to meditate. I spent a good long time in this temple and
was taken back by how powerful it was. I recommend visiting here if you ever go to Bangkok.
Unfortunately, this temple is considered so sacred that no pictures are allowed. A photo
would have shown a large emerald statue draped in a goldened threaded shawl. It's the largest
piece of emerald I've ever seen.

In front of the Emerald Palace (and other places) is a gold leaf Buddha statue such as this one. People place slivers of gold leaf
onto the statue as a sacramental activity.
