Phil's All Embracing Bhutan Slide Show
Scenes from Darjeeling, India
Our next stop after Sonada was Darjeeling, a British "Hill station" and an area world-famous
for its tea. We stayed at an old Victorian hotel called the Windamere, atop the highest hill
in Darjeeling.

Here are the ladies and gents having their morning scones, crumpets and tea. Everyone was
was enjoying themselves amidst the anachronistic wealth of a time long gone, except for Jessie,
who is definitely not a morning person.

Just above the Hotel Windamere is Observatory Hill, the highest point in Darjeeling,
offering 360 degree views, which include magnificent vistas of the Nepalese Himalayas to the north.
Observatory Hill is also serves as a Buddhist and Hindu sacred shrine area, and hence
the celebratory flags.
