While we were standing in front of the temple, we ran into a group of pilgims who were walking across the country on a pilgrimmage to a temple in western Bhutan. When I say across the country, I mean that literally - they go up and down the mountains in as straight a line as possible to their destination. Their journey is so arduous that we gave one of the women pilgrims, whose knees were aching, a lift to the next town. |

The prayer wheels on the side of many temples are very old and worn, and several times a person in our group would knock over the wheel, requiring a quick patch job. |
