At The Punakha Dzong
The third mandala on the wall of the inner temple is a very common one, which depicts the six realms of existence as described in Buddhist teaching: realms of the gods, the jealous gods (asuras), humans, animals, hungry ghosts and the hell realms. All of which have no self-existence. |

Here our groups waits at the door of the inner temple of the Punakha Dzong. Unfortunately, we couldn't take picture inside, because it was one of the most amazing temples I've ever seen: close to 75 yards by 75 yards, with a massive 3 story gold Buddha and Guru Rinpoche statues, with 2 foot statues of every Guru in the Kagyu lineage in glass cases lining the walls. |
