Phil's All Embracing Bhutan Slide Show Houses in Bhutan On the way to Drugpa Kunley's temple, we passed by several houses in various stages of construction or destruction. There are many houses like the one seen here dotting the countryside in Bhutan. When a person dies in a house, the house is left to disintegrate and a new one is built nearby. I believe the reason is to honor the dead. The housing in Bhutan is wonderful, large rammed-earth structures with ornate wood trim. Here you can see the different sections of rammed earth making the foundation of the building. Back Next Page 82.
