Phil's All Embracing Bhutan Slide Show A Day In Thimphu We spent several days in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, a booming metropolis compared to the rest of Bhutan, but it's essentially a large town of about 70,000 people. This is the National Memorial Chorten, built in 1974 to honor the memory of the third king of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. This place is a popular site, and many people in town circumambulate the chorten and spend time at the small temple inside, some captured in the next few pages. Two cute girls around the chorten.
