Phil's All Embracing Bhutan Slide Show
Weekend Market in Thimphu
The next day we went to the weekend market, an outdoor set of stalls not that
different than an American farmer's market, except it's full of strange vegetables
and fruits and Bhutanese and Buddhist artifacts and other unusual people and things.

This colorful photo is a set of "yathras" for sale, shawls made of yak wool (sometimes sheep wool),
a very versatile piece of fabric.
|
|
One of the creative uses of yathras is to make a baby papoose, a common sight in Bhutan.
