Phil's All Embracing Bhutan Slide Show Scenes of Downtown Thimphu It doesn't get any bigger than Thimphu in Bhutan and our hotel is smack in the 'downtown' section of the 'city' of 70,000 people. This is the 'southern traffic circle' of Thimphu, a very common picture used to portray Thimphu, with the aesthetically pleasing office building in the background. At rush hour, the traffic cops do earn their pay, but it's a far cry from the usual traffic-insane Asian city.
