Phil's All Embracing Bhutan Slide Show
The Road to Taksang

Our final venue in Bhutan is Taksang, a.k.a. Tiger's Nest, the cliffside temple high above the Paro Valley.

Here's Marcia sampling the goods at the local vegetable stand, among hanging strands of churpi, dried yak cheese.

Road crews, hired in the spring and summer to build and repair the mountain roads of Bhutan, are almost completely Nepali. This difficult and demanding work is done by entire families, with small children playing nearby while the parents work. The Nepali women looked exotically beautiful, and they seemed to be doing all the same tasks as the men.
