Phil's Mondo India Slide Show
Sights of Ramana Ashram

Ramana's remains are enshrined in the main hall, and it is traditional to circumamabulate his crypt three times before sitting down in the hall. There are daily chanting, pujas and meditation sessions in the hall as well as in other buildings nearby.

The food at Ramana Ashram was some of the best I ever had in all of India. Diffcult to see here, but you are ushered in to sit in rows on the floor. A banana leaf serves as the plate, and a small metal cup is filled with water for drinking and/or washing the leaf. Servers come round wiuh huge buckets plopping the food carefully on the leaf. The food is great and you can have as much as you want. They cater to both western and Indian tastes (read: spicy). I tasted the Indian version of the food but it wasn't brutally hot.
