Scenes from Thimphu

You may have wondered what the inside of an Asian restaurant kitchen looks like, and here it is. This is
the kitchen of the Blue Poppy restaurant in central Thimphu, across from the Pedling Hotel. The front entrance
was under repair and we had to enter through the kitchen entrance. I didn't have a problem eating there after seeing the
kitchen, and I'd recommend it, good food.

This is Trashi Chhoe Dzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion), the seat of the national government. The original
building was done in 1641, rebuilt after several fires and expanded in 1962 to its current massive size. It is
a true dzong in name and action, containing many government offices, the National Assembly, the secretariat as well as
being used a fort and a monastery.
