Sights of Varanasi
At the Asi Ghat next to my hotel, ghee candles were arranged to spell out words, probably names of Hindu gods and mantras. However, my grasp of Devanagiri, the Hindu written language, doesn't go much beyond 'Om'. |

Just outside my hotel was this tree that had some sacred significance - it was adorned with many ornamentsof worship, such as the cylindrical Shivalingam seen here. The local cows are making a meal out of the left over flower offerings. |
